The Evolution Of Car Logos

Monday, February 18th, 2008

Neat-o-Rama has a feature story on the evolution of fifteen car brands and their logos, ranging from Alfa Romeo to Volkswagen (with brief summaries of the history of each that makes for some interesting reading).

Audi seems to have barely changed their logo at all, apart from the time that the four car companies merged to form the auto union (back in 1932).

Breaking Into An Audi

Saturday, December 8th, 2007

Four guys get accidentally locked out of their Audi A4 while the engine is running. Their dealer suggests breaking the right passenger window to get into the car (that is the only one the dealer has in stock). So, they try doing just that, and in the process, learn that it takes more than a couple of attempts.

APR Audi R8 At SEMA 2007

Saturday, November 3rd, 2007

An Audi R8 with a refreshed two-tone color scheme (by APR), in my opinion, had to be the one to single handedly steal the show at SEMA 2007. Here’s an image from Autoblog (check out the rest of the pictures in this gallery). Unfortunately, I didn’t have the fortuity to be at the show and hence resorted to Autoblog for the full coverage. It’s pretty obvious, though, that I wouldn’t be wandering around anywhere other than this Audi exhibit.

Filmed over six days in Mexico, “Warm Up” was Audi’s first commercial for the seminal R8. This ad debuted around the time I, Robot was released in Europe.

The new Audi TT-R. Delicious!

Friday, January 26th, 2007

You’ve got to love the two-tone body styling by ABT, even if you are unfazed by the awesomeness under the hood and the beauty of legendary Quattro handling that are the soul of the new Audi TT-R. This chubby baby packs in 355 horses - enough power to take you nada to 60 in about 5.1 seconds. woop!

Audi drifting

Wednesday, January 24th, 2007

Anyone who says station wagons can’t be fun to drive, is probably correct unless (s)he is talking about an Audi. Check out some (sub)urban A6 Avant quattro drifting action.

The 2008 R8. Pure exhilarance.

Saturday, December 23rd, 2006

rs6 sent me a link to this guy’s album, where a few pictures of the 2008 Audi R8 reside. This beauty was apparently waiting for the press kit shoot in Beverly Hills, CA.

For the uninitiated, the R8 is a road car that will be launched in 2007, and shares its name with the famous Audi R8 race car that won the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2000, 2001, 2002, 2004, and 2005 (Audi took 3rd place in 2003, when  the Bentley Speed 8 broke the R8’s six consecutive win streak).

The Audi R8 will be available in mid-2007 with a 4.2 L V8 making 420 hp, as seen in the Audi RS4. Pricing for the 420 bhp model starts from $140,000 USD. A  520 hp version is rumored to be in the making, although Audi has not yet confirmed this.
