Fly by Google

I discovered yet another tiny but pretty useful web-app by Google while looking for airline ticket deals for my parents on their visit to the US. If you enter just the names of the two cities you need to travel between, Google returns a shortcut link (with textboxes for travel dates) for the major online ticketing websites: Expedia, Hotwire, Orbitz and Priceline.

Surprisingly, this feature didn’t show up on the Official Google Blog - or is it still in the final stages of testing? Another interesting point is that the default website chosen is Expedia.com, which is owned by Microsoft. Google might as well boost a little traffic towards the MSN network and increase their revenue, while it (Google) takes another tiny step toward the launch of the rumored ‘Google Office’ - an online business applications suite (partnered with Sun Microsystems and based on OpenOffice.org and Sun’s StarOffice).
